fear of sock monkeys?

From their long spindly arms, their trying to be jaunty hats to their very antagonistic ruby red lips, I loathe them. They are the type of creatures that surely walk around your house at night while you sleep, most likely with machetes in their hands to kill you. Just like with a snake, when I see a sock monkey, I freeze. I don’t know when or where this phobia comes from, but I remember that as a youngster, I was not able to be in the same room alone with the sock monkey that sat in my favorite wingback chair at my grandmother’s house. My mother once put a barrel of said adversaries in my path at a store and I couldn’t move. Or go around them. That might sound extreme, and I do recognize that, but it doesn’t make the phobia go away – or those people that actually sew them.

We call them mono monkeys because my wife had mono and knitted six of them while being sick.

Cool sock monkey story Carrie. Sorry about the phobia, but I love sock monkeys. I like the classic grey & red sock monkey . My son still has his & he would shove the tail between the legs to display a dinky. I almost bought the sock monkey hat & matching mitts for Raymis Xmas present but thought it was best to encourage a more sophiticated look for her. How did you get that little moving sock monkey figure on the sidebar?

You write like I do. I love to start with an innocent sounding few remarks then suddenly dive into some bizarre statement that totally disorients the reader and makes them freak. In a nice way, of course.

Your blog is looking so great, I just love the new design.

You are so inspiring and dedicated. I know you have a lot of things going on in your life and heart, but you keep at it.

Be sure to check out my post "How To Blog Part 1", which is not my opinions, but is rather a list of links to fundamental essays, mostly by others.

There is one so funny, title of "How to be a blogger in 89 easy steps" or similar. Not sure if that's the exact title, but it IS a whooping whopping 89 steps, and it is guaranteed to make you laugh.

b;log sat-ire.

My mom always talks about how I was scared of cotton balls when I was a baby.

I guess I screamed and threw a fit when a cotton ball approached me.

I wonder: did a molester or abuser hurt me with cotton balls somehow?

That almost has to be the cause, right?

Or cotton balls were associated somehow, nearby or something, while the abuse was going on???

Okay, you're freakin' me out already. Saw your comment over at Murray's. Thought, what the heck, here's one I haven't gone over to see. Got the profile page from the link in the comment box. Laughed my butt off at the response to the question: where would you be if you cut your nails, or something like that. And then got to the post.

I can't move. It is late. I am in my house alone. But I fear sock monkeys now. Thanks a heap.

Wait! What was that?!

Whew. Just a-----SSSSAAWWWWKKK MOONKEEEYYY!!!!!!

we called them mimis. and they lived in grandma's basement, specifically in the old scary wooden toybox in the grey dismal room that became known as "mommy's smoking room". we believed that they surely ruled the basement with quiet insidious terror tactics. so we never went down there at night.

That was the an...um...vivid and terrifying thought.

Honestly, I thought this was a joke... I didn't even know what a sock monkey was. Now that I do know they really do exist...

I WANT ONE!!!

Are there any Brown&Pink or Fushia ones...and how can I get one...We only have real monkeys here in Belize.

Nice meeting you Carrie and thanks for visiting my blog...
